The story of Furutangen
It began with a farm, an idea for 30 plots and a wish to create more activity in Osen.
It started at Moen farm
Lise and Jan Skogheim moved from Fetsund to Osen in 2001 to run Moen farm. A few years later they were looking for a small additional business and began imagining 30 cabin plots — perhaps 100 if things went well.
What began as a cautious idea became a long-term development project. The ambition was never simply to sell plots, but to build a place with activities, meeting points and lasting value for the surrounding village.

From the first plots to a complete cabin community
The response was immediate. By the turn of 2005–2006, 16 plots had been sold even though the target had been ten. The first cabin was ready for Easter 2006. Roads, cabin fields, the alpine area, dining, rentals and activities have grown step by step ever since.
Furutangen was meant to be down-to-earth, family-friendly and easy to use — a place children and adults look forward to returning to.

The goal has stayed the same
Furutangen should be a place people use often, not a field that stands empty between holidays.
Room for the whole family
Activities and meeting places should work for children and adults without losing the calm atmosphere of cabin life.
Life throughout the year
Alpine and cross-country skiing in winter; walks, fishing, play and events when the snow is gone.
Value that stays local
Development should create activity in Osen through local jobs, suppliers and trade.
Disc golf in the middle of the area
Furutangen Diskgolfpark was built in stages by enthusiasts, well supported by the cabin owners’ association. UDisc ranked the course no. 9 in Norway in 2026.

The same place, all year
Alpine skiing and trails in winter; fishing, cycling and long light evenings in summer.
A cabin adventure followed for 20 years
From the first plot sales to today's continued investment, local and national media have followed the development.
